cute & cozy at EXTRA VIRGIN / New York

I am always looking for small, cozy restaurants in New York for those nights when you just want to be low-key and dive into deep conversations with old friends.  I did just that last night at a small Italian spot in the West Village, Extra Virgin.  Even though it was completely packed, we carried on our animated conversation without skipping a beat while enjoying their delicious fare.  I never order chicken at a restaurant, but my companion was so adamant that I broke my own rule - and was so glad that I did.  The mushroom crusted virgin chicken is simply Ah-mazing.

NYC SPOTTING / Beatrice Inn

Not even 4 carb-free days could keep me away from a dinner at Beatrice Inn with the girls.  What was once a den for New York's blurry-club-kid-celebs (think Lindsay Lohan, Kirsten Dunst, Chloe Sevigny) has now transformed itself into a beautiful swan.  Having recently re-opened last October, the Beatrice has cleaned up well and now offers a chic upper-east side home feel with delicious fare in fashion-conscious proportions.
p.s. I included some gritty pics from the hey day circa 2008.  You're welcome.

NYC SPOTTING / Chelsea Wine Cellar

When I die and go to heaven, this is exactly how I imagined it: stacked wine bottles everywhere!  The Chelsea Wine Cellar is a true diamond in the ruff.  Stocked with more than 2,700 labels (the owner said that's when he stopped counting), this cozy shrine to the nectar of the Gods is a densely packed, serene nook in the heart of the bustling Chelsea district.  I could easily spend the day in there.  I said this out loud as I happily snapped my photos. Some customers looked at me strangely - when I explained that the LCBO doesn't allow us to enjoy wine in the same way, they understood.

Bought one of each of these.  Couldn't decide between the two.

Finally got the New York showroom set up this morning with the fall 13 collection.  I love how it's framed by the sitting area.  Fab location too - just behind the flat iron building.
