We are proud Canadians, and more proud we could not be of this amazing new video by Shark Tank that is starting to go viral. How did they so perfectly nail the whole Canadiana thing and make it look cool. Plus the back beat is so gooood. It just makes us feel happy deep inside, like there is hope knowing there is something this pure and good out there. Well done.
Here are our favorite lyrics:
"The big land mass that the rest of the world hates"
"We're just chillin' up here, surpin' syrup, playing hockey"
"Just rockin' plaid jackets"
"We count our weight in firewood"
"Before we learn to walk, we can cross-check properly"
I can't tell you how many times I get complimented when I wear this coat. Made of recycled fox and mink fur, this coat is so warm I could practically walk outside naked underneath it. The two-tone texture also makes it easy to wear with many shades of grey, brown or black.
LUCy mink & fox fur big coat by BROSE $1,995
For as long as I can remember, I have always been on the hunt for that sexy 'going out' top! You can never have too many of them. Right now I am feeling an all black look with a super statement top with lots of volume, or some kind of stand-out silhouette like a peplum or ruffles. But my favorite thing to do now is throw on a stark white jacket, it just feels so fresh. Then sparkle on top a little fur collar and you are done.
Here are some of our favorite pieces:
1- BROSE open wool blend blazer $625
2- ALEXANDER MCQUEEN peplum bustier $1,695

Annet Turki's body of work entitled 'Rock The Pixel' is as mesmerizing as it is elusive. It's like you want to keep squinting your eyes until you see it more clearly. Or you don't, because it's the mystery of what is going on that is interesting. When I first saw the image of a woman running panti-less with rolled up fish-net socks, I was hooked. Still trying to find out where you can buy her work. Any suggestions are welcome!

Perfect timing too.... it's getting cold out there!

Virtually afloat atop lofty cliffs, the Parco dei Principi is a serene reincarnation of the majestic villa and botanical gardens of the Borbonese family. Designed by Gio Ponti in 1962, the hotel still retains the ceramic pebbles, intricate mosaic tiling, Melotti majolica plates, and the remains of the 18th century Sorrento estate. Despite the modern amenities in its 96 guest rooms, one can still hear the echoes of the hotel's aristocratic past, when the likes of Czart Nicholas II once enjoyed a performance by Julie Sedowa, then prima ballerina of the St Petersburg court. Sedowa died in 1978 however her tiny footprints are immortalized in the marble terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Ahhh it's the weekend! Time to catch up on emails, web surfing, and my favorite: reading a book.
Here are some good reads that we can recommend:
1- Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter -- this cleverly written novel takes place both in Le Cinque Terre, Italy in the 1960's as well in modern day Los Angeles and weaves a story that intertwines the lives of several individuals each searching for themselves until finally finding one another in the same ending. It is as riveting as it is heart-felt and once you fall in love with its characters, you won't be able to put it down.
2- Sleeping With The Enemy: Coco Chanel's Secret War by Hal Vaughan -- did you know that Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel had ties to the Nazi party? That her born name was Gabrielle Chasnel? That she grew up as an orphan? That she was a personal friend of Sir Winston Churchill? Neither did we! This well researched and documented account of a fashion icon's drama-filled life is absolutely fascinating, and unnerving.
3- Tom Ford by Tom Ford, Bridget Foley, Graydon Carter, Anna Wintour -- what can we say? We love Tom Ford. And who wouldn't want to read about one man's come back and all around kicking ass. Inspiring.
4- Dad Is Fat by Jim Gaffigan -- funny man Jim Gaffigan renders a self-depricating and humorous cry for help as a father of five children. His observations are witty and on point and yet somehow do not scare away those who are not yet parents.

The classic Chanel 2.55 bag has sure come a long way. Named '2.55' for the date of its creation (February 1955), the bag originated in the 20's when Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel got tired of carrying her handbag with her hands and added a strap inspired by those found on soldiers' bags. Who would have thought that its signature quilting would now be seen on everything from skirts to sweatshirts and to shoes. This season it is certainly enjoying a huge revival.
