PEI // Fishies On The Roof

By far the best place in Charlottetown for an afternoon cocktail under the sun is the rooftop bar, Fishies On The Roof.  Part of the street-level gastropub, Fishbones, the sprawling rooftop terrace has several hang out zones on three levels, a full bar, and edited menu offering their 'best of' from downstairs.  But you'll have to earn y0ur drink: the climb is a long three flights of stairs, but with lots of encouragement along the way in the form of 'almost there' and 'fishies comin' up' sings on your way up.

MONTREAL // Bar George

The re-opening of the former gentleman's club has been a lengthy process.  Born from Toronto's Oliver & Bonacini restuarant group (Canoe, Bannock), the building was acquired in 2006 and then shuttered the private club in 2011 when work began on the transformation.

This Renaissance Revival House is the main focus of the building, with a 12-level annex added in the back to accommodate parking and hotel rooms. The main bar area is very British and majestic.  All of the rooms are heavily wood paneled with warm lighting, creepy dark paintings, plush seating, lots of gold.

The menu has an extensive offering of whiskies, gins and various and sundry liquors.  The 200-seat restaurant is very English with “Québécois humour” -- meaning: Scotch eggs with St-Canut porcelet and turnip rémoulade, a crumpet with Earl Grey salmon, kipper butter, and rollmops (pickled herring), as well as veal cheek and kidney pie with stout, wild mushrooms, sweet peas, and kohlrabi.

NEED / Zadig & Voltaire BOOTIES

Much like raccoons, I like sparkly things.  Even better when they are attached to things I can wear.  I do this a lot, clearly, with #Brose.  But Zadig & Voltaire does it differently, and in the case of these ankle-cow-boy-booties -- made with a whole bunch of other stuff (metal wings, suede patches gold metal back zips, snake embossing) -- my rule still feels good.  Really good.

NOSEY // Mademoiselle J12 Watch by CHANEL

Black lacquer dial. Silhouette of Mademoiselle CHANEL's arms indicate hours and minutes.  So goes the description on the Chanel site.  And the price of a cool $7,200 -- THAT, and the fact that it is a limited edition of 555 pieces.

But here are some other Coco-cool things about this update to the original 2000 uni-sex ceramic watch: A mechanical, self-winding mechanism movement with a 42-hour power reserve; Water resistant up to 200 meters; Steel caseback set with one brilliant-cut diamond, a steel bracelet, and triple-folding buckle; Available in black or white.

Currently available on on a by request basis, although rumor has it you can expect it sometime soon chez Colette.
